He scored what turned out to be the winner against Chelsea in the last round and, alongside an impressive performance against the Blues, Edimilson Fernandes deserves a chance on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old excelled in the right wing-back role against Antonio Conte’s side, getting up and down the flank energetically throughout the 120 minutes.

Including him in the starting eleven could give Michail Antonio more licence to get forward, which could seriously benefit a West Ham side struggling to put the ball in the back of the net.

Fernandes has made eight appearances for the Hammers since his move to East London in the summer, and two of these have been in the League Cup. His previous performances in the competition should earn him a start against United on Wednesday.
