Bolton Wanderers are reportedly hopeful over re-signing Kevin Nolan.

The Championship side are interested in offering the West Ham United midfielder a return to the club this summer after playing for the Trotters between 1999 and 2009.

The 33-year-old, who left Bolton for Newcastle United for £4m six years ago, scored only one goal in 34 appearances in all competitions under former boss Sam Allardyce at the Boleyn Ground last season.

However, Bolton’s move for their former captain could be scuppered by the midfielder’s reported £50,000-a-week wages, with Neil Lennon’s side hopeful Nolan will take a pay-cut in order to seal a return to the Macron Stadium before the close of the transfer window.

New Hammers boss Slaven Bilic may be tempted in offloading the 33-year-old following the club’s Europa League exit to Romanian outfit Astra Giurgiu last night, in which Nolan played the full 90 minutes in West Ham’s 2-1 defeat.
