In their UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg game at the Emirates, Arsenal face the daunting task of stopping Barcelona’s world-class forward line if they are to emerge victorious.

Lionel Messi has been not just the best player in La Liga, but the best player in the world over the past few years, winning an incredible amount of silverware for the team and individually.

And while Arsenal may not possess someone in the class of the only person in history to have won five Ballon d’Or awards, including four in a row from 2009 to 2012, they do have an impressive playmaker themselves in Mesut Ozil.

After receiving criticism for perhaps not living up to his £42 million price tag in his first two seasons at the club, the German has taken his game to another level in England this campaign.

Recording an incredible 17 assists in 24 games is no mean feat, and Arsenal fans will hope their number 10 is on the top of his game, and that his Barcelona counterpart won’t be.
