Middlesbrough are the new leaders of the Championship after an injury-time winner gave them a 2-1 victory over Reading.

Knowing victory would lift them above rivals Burnley, Boro were ahead after just ten minutes courtesy of an Emilio Nsue goal, but the Royals hit back early in the second half when Simon Cox equalised. With the game in injury-time and seemingly heading for a draw, Adam Forshaw netted the match winner. His strike in the fourth minute of the added-on allocation, only his second goal of the season, sent Aitor Karanka’s side to the summit and a step closer to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Leeds United dented Birmingham City’s hopes of claiming the final play-off spot with a 2-1 win at St Andrew’s.

A goal in each half from Stuart Dallas was enough for Steve Evans’ men to pick up all three points, although Alex Mowatt’s late dismissal took some of the gloss off of the victory. Clayton Donaldson’s strike threatened a comeback, but the Blues couldn’t find a leveller and remain nine points behind sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
