Liverpool’s James Milner is another player who has learnt to play in a new position this season. Having spent the majority of his career as a central midfielder, the 30-year-old has found prominence on the left side of defence, replacing Alberto Moreno in the starting line up.

As well as staking his claim as a defender to ensure the club don’t have to fork out in January, Milner also has four goals to his name as well as an assist. He has been solid in defence and is creating nearly two chances each game – which is significantly more than any other defender in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
