Chelsea have entered the race to sign Benfica striker Luka Jovic, according to The Sun.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Frankfurt where he is enjoying a prolific season with 19 goals from 27 matches in all competitions.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are thought to be two admirers of the young Serbian but it’s reported that the Stamford Bridge club are prepared to pay £40million to strike a deal.

It’s claimed under-fire Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has pinpointed the forward as a potential replacement for Olivier Giroud, whose contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Giroud is expected to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

After starting his career with Red Star Belgrade, the talented attacker moved to Portuguese giants Benfica in 2016.

He has made just four appearances for the the Eagles first-team and has two years left on his contract at Estádio da Luz.
