Name: Diego Costa
After going unbeaten since Guus Hiddink replaced Jose Mourinho in December, picking Chelsea’s Player of the Month for January has been a lot tougher than in recent times.
Willian had been the standout performer for the Blues pretty much every week prior to the Dutchman’s arrival, but now some of the champions’ star names have finally decided to join the party.
Cesc Fabregas and Oscar have all hit form, while Willian has continued to impress. But despite the Brazilian’s all-action displays we’ve opted for the one and only Diego Costa.
The Spain international has looked back to his very best this month, scoring three goals and causing defenders nightmares with his runs and physicality – most notably using his pace and power to get Per Mertesacker red carded in the 1-0 win at Arsenal.
Now injury free and with that fire in his belly once again, don’t be surprised to see the former Atletico Madrid man work his way towards the top of the scoring charts come the end of the campaign.
