Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle has reportedly rejected a move to Bristol City as he wants to remain in the Premier League.
The newly promoted Championship outfit tabled a firm £6m offer for the 24-year-old forward on Tuesday, which was accepted by the Premier League club.
Gayle, who arrived at Selhurst Park only two years ago, scored ten goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles last season.
However; following the arrivals of Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford from Sunderland and Chelsea respectively, Gayle’s future at the club has been plunged into doubt during the summer transfer window.
The Robins’ thought their £6m bid would convince the striker to drop down into the league below, but it seems Gayle is willing to hold out on a move to another Premier League club before September 1.
It is understood that fellow Championship sides Fulham, Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all interested in the former Bishop’s Stortford star, but it was Bristol City who made the first move.
