Crystal Palace and West Ham United are reportedly set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Italy international striker Simone Zaza in the New Year.

The Premier League duo, who respectively sit sixth and eighth in the current standings, are both interested in signing the Juventus hitman on a six-month loan deal during the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has seven international caps for his country, has scored five goals in ten appearances in all competitions for the defending Serie A champions so far this season.

Zaza, who netted twice in Juve’s 4-0 Coppa Italia victory over Torino in midweek, has been out-of-favour at the Italian giants for the majority of the season and is keen to secure first-team football for the reaminder of the 2015-16 campaign to work his way into the national squad ahead of next summer’s UEFA European Championships.
