Everton are reportedly interested in sealing a late deadline day deal to sign Ecuador international forward Enner Valencia, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who currently sit fourth in the English top-flight standings after defeating Stoke City 1-0 at the weekend, have been linked with a late swoop for the West Ham United striker, with rivals Swansea City also said to be interested.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Pachuca for £12m back in 2014, has featured seven times in all competitions for Slaven Bilic’s side already this season, despite not finding the back of the net.

However the Ecuadorian could find his first-team chances limited at the London Stadium in the near future after West Ham sealed the signing of Italy international striker Simone Zaza from Serie A champions Juventus.

Valencia scored six goals and provided four assists in 29 games for the Londoners last term.

Reports earlier today suggested that Swansea were the favourites to land the Ecuadorian, however this evening’s latest speculation sees Everton as the new frontrunners, with the Toffees ready to sign him on loan initially, with a view to a permanent transfer.
