Ashley Westwood joined Aston Villa for £2m from Crewe Alexandra back in August 2012.

If only Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph stayed put during the summer… Well, at least Ashley Westwood benefits by receiving this award! The 25-year-old, who joined Aston Villa from Crewe Alexandra back in 2012, has showcased his Premier League pedigree during the 2015 calendar year, making 27 league appearances last season to help manager Tim Sherwood keep the Villans afloat back in May. Despite failing to find the back of next since the back end of the 2013-14 campaign; Westwood shone alongside the Midlands club’s Player of the Season Fabian Delph in the centre of the park to ensure Villa secured safety on the final day of the season. With ten games already under his belt this campaign; including an assist for Rudy Gestede’s winner at AFC Bournemouth on the opening day, Westwood is a player who should continue to develop in the near future.
