Italy international forward Mario Balotelli is set to return to Liverpool at the end of the season, according to calciomercato.com.

The 25-year-old, who has 33 international caps for his country, has failed to shine during his season-long loan spell at AC Milan this term.

Balotelli, who cost the Reds £16m back in August 2014 from the Serie A giants, has managed to find the back of the net just twice in ten appearances in all competitions for his former club this campaign so far.

Last summer, Jurgen Klopp’s side offloaded the fiery Italian to Milan for his second spell with the club, with an option to buy Balotelli at the end of the current campaign for €7-8m.

It seems Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic hasn’t been impressed enough by the striker’s performances this season to warrant the Liverpool flop a permanent return at the San Siro, meaning he is increasingly likely to arrive back at Anfield this summer.

This will never happen for one reason only and its this

Liverpool never signed Him they took him on a try before you buy deal for the season and when the deal was up he went back to his Parent Club he now has a year less on his contract and will be cheaper for any team who wants to sign him than when offered to Liverpool but he will never return to Anfield

Just think of your story and the try to understand why a team who wanted him out of the door would take him back and not play him if they could just send him back
