Joey Barton believes Alexis Sanchez is playing better than Manchester United star Paul Pogba this season, via BBC Radio 5 live Sport.

The former Rangers midfielder, who left the Scottish Premiership outfit last month after his contract was terminated with immediate effect, despite only joining the club from Burnley in the summer, made the remark on Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old said, when discussing recent speculation over Premier League players’ wages, “He is certainly, at this moment in time, better than [Paul] Pogba.

“He’s not better than [Cristiano] Ronaldo and he is better than Pogba, so his agent should be pitching for somewhere in the middle.”

Sanchez, 27, has impressively scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 20 appearances in all competitions for second-placed Arsenal so far this season.

Meanwhile Pogba, 23, who returned to Old Trafford this summer for a world record £89m fee, has netted four times and provided one assist in 19 games for Manchester United this term.
