Leeds United are reportedly interested in snapping up England Under-20 international Ashley Fletcher this summer, according to The Sun (via the Daily Star Sunday).

The Championship club, who have just hired ex-Swansea City boss Garry Monk as their new manager after the Whites finished 13th in the league standings last term under Steve Evans, are interested in either a loan or permanent deal for the highly-rated Manchester United forward.

The 20-year-old, who scored on his international debut for England’s Under-20 squad against France back in November 2015, scored nine goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions for League One play-off winners Barnsley this season.

Fletcher, who scored in the play-off final and 2016 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley this campaign, is wanted by Leeds owner Massimo Cellino at Elland Road beyond this summer.

The report suggests that the young forward is open to a move to the Championship; given United’s already talented striking options, including Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, plus the club’s pursuit of Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
