Name: Jamie Vardy
Position: Striker
Goal: LEICESTER vs Liverpool (February 2, 2016)
It’s unsurprising that after scoring 35 of Leicester’s 54 Premier League goals so far this season, this award came down to a choice between Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
While the latter’s goal in the 2-1 home win against Chelsea was brilliant, we have the chosen the former’s stunning strike against Liverpool at the start of February.
Fittingly, the assist for the England international’s goal came from Mahrez, who hit a long ball into the right channel for the 29-year-old to run onto. Not many in the King Power Stadium expected what was to come next though.
Vardy let the ball bounce around 25 yards out, before unleashing a dipping volley that flew past Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.
It was a goal that summed up what a fantastic campaign it has been for the attacker, who is just one goal shy of 20 Premier League strikes for the season, and he is still in with a great chance of a title winners’ medal come what May.
