Liverpool have submitted a bid of £40million to Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes, according to Portuguese outlet, Correio da Manha.

Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp, is hoping to add some more playmakers to his side after they were beaten to the Premier League title by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City by just one point.

The Merseyside outfit are the only club so far to have made a formal bid for Fernandes, but many others including Manchester United, Inter Milan and Tottenham are also reportedly interested.

However, Sporting Lisbon are hoping to receive a much better offer than the one made by the Reds, as their valuation is claimed to be closer to £62million.

Jurgen Klopp wants to add to his Champions League winning squad.

Scorer of 20 league goals in 33 appearances last season, the 24-year-old was the Primeira Liga’s second highest scorer behind Benfica’s Haris Seferovic.

The Portugal international also played a big role in his side’s Europa League campaign, as he started every game in the competition and contributed with three goals and two assists before they were knocked out by Villareal in the first knockout round.

Fernando Santos gave the midfielder his international debut in 2017 in a friendly against Saudi Arabia, and he has gone on to earn 11 more caps for his national team, helping them win the Nations League earlier this month.
