Liverpool are reportedly mulling over whether to make a club-record offer for Switzerland international Granit Xhaka this January.

The Premier League side, who sit eighth in the standings following their 2-0 defeat against West Ham United last weekend, have been scouting the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder throughout the campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has 39 international caps for his country, has scored three goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Xhaka, whose reported asking price is a whopping £37m, would surpass the Reds’ current club-record transfer fee paid of £35m set almost five years ago when Liverpool splashed out £35m on Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll.
