FC Barcelona are reportedly considering making a move to sign Spain international defender Alberto Moreno, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The defending La Liga champions, who travel to Real Sociedad on Saturday in the Spanish top-flight, have been linked with a surprise swoop for the out of favour Liverpool full-back.

The 26-year-old, who has four international caps for his country, has failed to feature competitively for The Reds so far this season.

He has been included in manager Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League matchday squad three times this term, but he is yet to climb off the bench for any first-team action.

Moreno, who arrived at Anfield back in August 2014 following his reported £12m switch from Sevilla, has scored three goals in 136 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit overall.

Despite being out of favour at Liverpool, the report claims European heavyweights Barcelona have identified the left-back as a potential transfer target, as the club aim to bring in competition for Jordi Alba at the Nou Camp.

Moreno is contracted at Anfield until June 2019, and is valued at just £9m, though he could be available on a free transfer during next summer’s transfer window.

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is also said to be fellow target for Barcelona.
