Liverpool have reportedly made a £55.5m bid for France international forward Thomas Lemar, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League side, who emphatically thrashed Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday, have been linked with a late summer swoop for the highly-rated AS Monaco winger before Thursday’s deadline (23:00).

The 21-year-old, who has five international caps for his country, has provided two assists in five appearances already this campaign for the defending Ligue 1 champions.

Lemar, who left French rivals Caen back in 2015, netted 14 goals and provided 17 assists last season in all competitions as Monaco terrifically beat giants Paris Saint-Germain to the league title.

The report suggests The Reds have launched a club-record offer for the left winger, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal this summer transfer window.

Though Monaco have insisted the wideman is not for sale, having already sold the likes of Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City, and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, plus striker Kylian Mbappe is poised to complete a mega-money move to PSG in the next few days.
