Emre Can has been excellent in recent weeks for Liverpool, and deciding between him and Georginio Wijnaldum is not a bad headache for Klopp to have.

But Wijnaldum’s influence on the midfield at Anfield mirrors that of Lallana’s, which is why he just gets the nod.

The Dutch international, who moved from Newcastle in the summer, provides both Henderson with defensive help but also Lallana with his driving runs, giving the Reds a balance in that midfield.

A couple of assists and a number of key passes per game demonstrate a forward-thinking approach, but his relentless energy and work-rate off the ball provides Klopp with an all-round midfielder.

Him and Lallana struck up a solid understanding prior to their respective injuries, and it might be an integral one as Liverpool look to win the title.
