Man City manager, Pep Guardiola has been carrying out a complete overhaul of his new squad over the summer, and that looks set to continue as a deal has been agreed to let defender, Eliaquim Mangala join Napoli on a season-long loan deal, according to The Times.

The French international has been strongly linked with a move away this summer as the former Barcelona boss looks to evolve his squad to make a serious bid for the title in his maiden season in English football.

The deal for the 25-year-old could open the door for Premier League rivals, Chelsea, as they chase the Italian side’s defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, with Mangala being considered as a replacement.

The former Porto man joined the Sky Blues in 2014 from the Portuguese outfit for a fee of £32m and has made 64 appearances during his time in Manchester, winning the League Cup along the way.

The defender has not made a single appearance for the first team this season and saw his stock fall further with the arrival of John Stones from Everton.

Yeah right! He should leave because I don’t see him as a contender for a defensive spot this season.
