Manchester City and Arsenal are reportedly ready to go head-t0-head for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Isco in January.

According to reports in Spain, the 23-year-old is becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities, and could seek a £22m move away from the Bernabeu in the winter transfer window.

City brought in Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling during the summer which would indicate that they wouldn’t need the Spain international, while the Gunners have a number of players in a similar position too, including Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla.

Isco has made two appearances for Real this term, but was dropped to the bench for their second match after starting his side’s opening day goalless draw with Sporting Gijon.
