Sunderland manager David Moyes has this morning confirmed that he’ll remain as Black Cats boss despite their relegation from the Premier League.

The North East outfit were confirmed as a Championship side last weekend as a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, coupled with Hull’s draw at Southampton, saw them fall 13 points adrift of safety with just four games of the season remaining.

And the former Manchester United and Everton boss refused to comment on his long-term future at the Stadium of Light in the immediate aftermath of their relegation, yet he has this morning confirmed that he’ll take charge of the Black Cats in the second tier next term.

And it’s news that has stimulated quite a response on social media, chiefly from Newcastle and Man United fans.

Moyes endured a tough time at Old Trafford when he was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor in 2013, lasting just nine months before losing his job, while Newcastle will leapfrog their North East rivals this summer after they earned an immediate return to the top-flight.

And it’s fair to say that both United and Magpies fans aren’t holding out much hope for Moyes at the Stadium of Light…
