Man United are amongst four Premier League clubs considering a January move for Sunderland defender, Lamine Kone, according to reports from The Mirror.

Jose Mourinho will battle with Everton, Chelsea and West Ham to land the 27-year-old who has been rated at £10m by the Black Cats.

The defender was on the verge of leaving the Stadium of Light but the powers that be managed to convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal, despite the managerial change with David Moyes replacing Sam Allardyce when he took the England job.

Having made a shaky start to the season the Red Devils boss is reportedly considering a defensive clear out, with the Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian’s futures all under review, whilst summer signing Eric Bailly is also set for a lengthy lay-off through injury

Kone has played eight of Sunderland’s Premier League games so far this season, having seen 17 goals shipped on his watch.
