Manchester United have reportedly been told that they will have to pay £62.5 million if they are to sign Southampton forward Sadio Mane in January.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal wants to strengthen his attacking options during the transfer window, with his side scoring just 24 goals in 20 Premier League games so far this season.

United wanted to sign the Senegal international from Saints in the summer, but any move failed to materialise, and now the South Coast outfit’s boss, Ronald Koeman, has told his Dutch compatriot the price he will have to pay to prise Mane away.

The 23-year-old, who scored the Premier League’s fastest ever hat-trick last term, has netted 13 goals in 50 top-flight matches for Southampton since his move from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2014.
