Manchester United are reportedly willing to smash the British transfer record in order to sign England international Harry Kane.
The 13-time Premier League champions, who currently sit fourth in the standings, have failed to score in their last two games in all competitions and are desperate to recruit the Tottenham striker during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old, who has scored three goals in six international appearances, scored a hat-trick for Spurs last weekend in their 5-1 victory at AFC Bournemouth.
Overall; Kane has scored four goals in the Premier League this season, although last term he found the back of the net 31 times during his ground-breaking campaign at White Hart Lane.
Having been linked with a £45m summer move, the Red Devils are now apparaently ready to stump up a sensational £60m for the Tottenham hotshot over the New Year period.
The current British transfer record is held by rivals Manchester City after they splashed out £49m on England teammate Raheem Sterling from Liverpool earlier this year.
