Manchester City are prepared to hijack rivals Manchester United’s move for Harry Maguire, according to The Mirror.

Recent rumours have suggested Old Trafford was Maguire’s most likely destination, but the Mirror have reported the blue side of Manchester could put their hat in the ring.

Leicester City have put a valuation of £90million on their centre back, with no club making a bid of that amount yet this summer.

However, if Pep Guardiola was to bid big for the England international, he would have to balance up the books with the possible sales of both Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Malanga, as the Etihad club have Financial Fair Play Rules to consider.

Pep Guaridola hasn’t been vocal about potential summer signings.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not welcome the news, having made his want and need for a fresh central defender quite clear to club Chief Executive Ed Woodward.

Although most neutral fans will feel the red side of Manchester are more desperate for a central defender, it shouldn’t be forgotten that City lost their talisman Vincent Kompany at the end of the last campaign.
