Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Sweden international defender Victor Lindelof this summer, according to O Jogo.

The Premier League side, who face Championship outfit Huddersfield Town in their FA Cup fifth round replay on Wednesday night, have been linked with making a late bid to lure the Benfica centre-half to the Etihad Stadium.

The 22-year-old, who has 11 international caps for his country, has made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit so far this season.

Lindelof, who has also been linked with moves to Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, was understood to be close to sealing a £38m switch to Old Trafford during last month’s transfer window, but the move never materialised.

The report suggests that Citizens boss Pep Guardiola has made a late swoop for the Swedish star having seen his side concede 29 goals in their 25 league outings so far this campaign, leaving them 11 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
