Manchester City have reportedly joined the chase to sign England youth international sensation Reece Oxford this summer, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who host Sunderland on the opening day of the new 2016/17 English top-flight campaign on August 13, have registered an interest in snapping up the highly-rated West Ham United defender.

The 17-year-old, who has featured twice for England’s Under-19 squad, made 12 first-team appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side in all competitions last season.

Oxford, who has two years remaining on his current deal at the Olympic Stadium, was watched by scouts from City, arch-rivals Manchester United and fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham whilst in action for England Under-19 against Holland on Friday.

The report suggests that the talented centre-half is valued at around £15m, after West Ham rejected a bid of around £10m from Red Bull Leipzig earlier this summer for Oxford’s services.

City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to strengthen his defensive ranks and have also been linked with a mega money move for Everton’s John Stones.
