Manchester City are reportedly prepared to splash out £50m to land England international defender John Stones this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The Premier League side, who finished fourth in the English top-flight standings last term after pipping rivals Manchester United to the final Champions League spot, have been continually linked with a move for the highly-rated Everton centre-half.

The 22-year-old; who has 10 international caps for the Three Lions, but failed to make an appearance for England at this summer’s European Championships in France, played 41 games in all competitions for the Toffees last season.

Stones, who arrived at Goodison Park following his £3m switch from Barnsley back in January 2013, has been identified by new manager Pep Guardiola as the Citizens’ next big money signing.

However the report suggests that Everton have slapped a whopping £50m price tag on their prized asset, although Man City are understood to be ready to meet their demands as they wish for Stones to link-up with his new teammates during pre-season training.

Manchester United, Chelsea and FC Barcelona have also been interested in the Englishman’s services this summer.
