Manchester United have agreed to pay Leicester City £80million in order to sign centre-back Harry Maguire, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for the England international for the past 12 months but had failed to match the Foxes’ valuation.

However, as reported by the Telegraph, United have now met the price-tag for the 26-year-old who will become the world’s most expensive centre-back.

It’s been no secret that boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been trying to add a central defender to his squad all summer and now his top target will undergo a medical this weekend.

Maguire starred for England at the 2018 World Cup.

He will also join fellow summer signings Daniel James from Swansea City and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in a squad looking to break into the top-four after missing out last term.

Maguire joined Leicester from Hull City for an initial fee of £12million in 2017 and he has since played 76 matches for the King Power Stadium outfit.

The Sheffield-born star played all of the Three Lions’ matches at the 2018 World Cup as he helped Gareth Southgate’s side reach the semi-finals.
