Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly set to go head-to-head in a bid to land Gabon superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
The Premier League giants, who eventually finished fifth and fourth in the English top-flight standings this term, are both ready to try and lure Borussia Dortmund’s star striker to their outfit ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
The 26-year-old, who has 49 international caps for his country, scored a remarkable 39 goals and provided 12 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
Aubameyang, who is thought to be valued at around the £65m mark, is interesting both United’s new manager Jose Mourinho and City’s incoming boss Pep Guardiola ahead of their first transfer window in charge of their respective clubs.
Premier League rivals Arsenal were also interested in the Gabon ace’s services, but have instead pursued a £20m deal for England international and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy instead.
