Manchester United closing in on club-record £80m deal for Juventus ace

Manchester United are reportedly ready to smash their club-record fee in a bid to re-sign France international star Paul Pogba this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The 13-time Premier League champions; who won the 2016 FA Cup trophy, but could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings under former manager Louis van Gaal last term, have been continually linked with trying to lure the Juventus midfielder back to Old Trafford ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has 35 international caps for his country and is currently with the France national squad at EURO 2016 in his homeland, scored 10 goals and provided a further 16 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions last season.

Pogba, who left the Red Devils back in July 2012 after rejecting a new deal, is a top priority transfer target for new United boss Jose Mourinho – who has already secured the services of Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move is set to be confirmed by the club shortly.

The report suggests that Manchester United are nearing completion on a club-record deal worth £80m to bring back the Frenchman to Old Trafford.
