Manchester United have £40million plus-player bid for Issa Diop rejected by West Ham United

Manchester United have had an offer dismissed by West Ham United for their centre-back Issa Diop, according to reports.

The 22-year-old impressed in his debut campaign for the Hammers following a £22million switch from Toulouse last summer.

However, the London club are now battling to keep hold of their star defender with Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard tweeting reporting that United have lodged an official bid for his services.

Diop was a rock for West Ham in his debut season.

The Red Devils, who are looking to improve their squad after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, have offered £40million plus an unnamed player.

West Ham have rejected the Old Trafford outfit’s offer as they aim to build on their tenth placed finish of last season.

However, it’s claimed that Diop would be interested in leaving to go to United and it’s expected that the 13-time Premier League winners will come back with an improved bid.

The Frenchman, who’s been tipped for a call-up to the senior national team, started 38 matches in all competitions last season.
