Manchester United have reportedly made Moussa Sissoko their alternative top transfer target if they fail to land fellow France international star Paul Pogba this summer, according to Le 10 Sport (via the Mirror).

The Premier League giants, who could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last term under former boss Louis van Gaal, despite lifting the 2016 FA Cup trophy, are the latest side to be linked with a move for Newcastle United’s midfielder ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 26-year-old, who has 44 international caps for his country and starred for France as the hosts reached the final of EURO 2016 on Sunday night, scored one goal and provided eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies last season.

Sissoko, who featured for France as they lost 1-0 to Portugal in extra-time inside the Stade de France at the weekend, is in-demand this summer following his impressive displays at the finals.

Reports (London Evening Standard) suggest that relegated Newcastle have slapped a sensational £35m price tag on the powerful central midfielder, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
