Manchester United are reportedly the frontrunners to land Republic of Ireland international Seamus Coleman, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who currently sit sixth in the English top-flight standings after drawing 1-1 with Stoke City last time out, have been linked with the Everton right-back ahead of the January transfer window in the New Year.

The 28-year-old, who has 42 international caps for his country and captained Ireland during their 3-1 win over Moldova at the weekend in their 2018 World Cup qualifying Group D, has scored one goal in five appearances in all competitions for the Toffees so far this season.

Coleman, who arrived at Goodison Park from Sligo Rovers back in 2009, is understood to have drawn attention from Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho following his blistering form during the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

It is thought that Manchester United representatives were in attendance to watch Everton’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in Merseyside.
