Manchester United join battle for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

The 24-year-old is one of the hottest properties in European football with Liverpool and Chelsea reportedly interested.

However, it’s now being reported that the Red Devils have thrown their hat in the ring when it comes to landing the playmaker.

Despite having yet named who will be in permanent charge at Old Trafford next term, it’s thought the club are planning a big transfer spree in the summer as they look to compete for the title next term.

And with 22 goals and 11 assists in all competitions from midfield this term, Fernandes certainly has the pedigree to strengthen United’s ranks.

The Portugal international has also shown his leadership qualities with the Primeira Liga outfit appointing him club-captain in January after former Manchester United forward Nani departed for Orlando City.

Fernandes, who played at the 2018 World Cup, has previously played in Italy for both Udinese and Sampdoria.
