The agent of AC Milan’s Davide Calabria has revealed to CalcioMercato that Manchester United are interested in the defender.

The 22-year-old has been a regular under Gennaro Gattuso this term, making 27 appearances in all competitions.

His performances have reportedly caught the eye of the Red Devils and that’s now been backed up by the full-back’s agent, Gianni Vitali, who told CalcioMercato: “Interest from top clubs and Manchester United? No real negotiations, no, but the intentions are there and they have been there.

I’ve never sat down with anyone because of the simple fact that he’s very happy where he is, he’s young and he plays at high levels, it seems to me normal that he could be interesting for important teams: Manchester United has never called me, it has never gone beyond a few chats, it’s difficult to find better than Milan.”

United splashed out £19million on FC Porto right-back Diogo Dalot, but they are keen to bolster their squad this summer as they look to mount a title challenge next term.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are gunning for a top-four finish.

That was expected by the Old Trafford hierarchy this campaign but following a poor start under Jose Mourinho the squad has only started to perform since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as caretaker boss.

Calabria came through the Milan club’s famous academy and made his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in May 2015.

Capped 17 times for Italy at Under-21 level, the San Siro outfit’s starlet has been tipped to earn a call-up to the senior side in the near future.
