Manchester United are reportedly leading Arsenal in the battle to sign £20 million-rated Watford striker Odion Ighalo in the summer, according to the Sunday People.

Although it is still unclear who will be in charge at Old Trafford next season with Louis van Gaal still being linked with an exit, and Jose Mourinho a frontrunner to replace him, United are ready to push ahead for a summer move for the Nigerian.

The Gunners are also interested in the 26-year-old attacker, but it is believed that the forward would prefer a move to Old Trafford, saying prior to the January transfer window that it would be a “dream” to play for United.

Despite it only being his first season in the Premier League, Ighalo has impressed for the newly-promoted Hornets, scoring 14 Premier League goals to date, although the goals have dried up in recents weeks and the Lagos-born player is without a top flight goal since January.
