Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing England Under-21 international Will Hughes, according to The Sun.

The 13-time Premier League champions; who lifted the 2016 FA Cup trophy, but could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last term, are understood to be considering a summer move for the highly-rated Derby County midfielder.

The 21-year-old, who has featured 17 times for the England Under-21 side, made only eight league appearances for the Rams last season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee.

Hughes, who still has two years remaining on his current deal at the iPro Stadium, is wanted by new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho as part of a process to boost the club’s tally of homegrown players.

The report suggests that Championship outfit Derby will demand £7m for the central midfielder, although they are likely to offer him a new contract in a bid to ward off his potential suitor(s).
