Sunderland are reportedly moving closer to signing Belgium international winger on a season-long loan deal, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Premier League club, who kick-off their 2016/17 top-flight campaign against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night, have been linked with signing the Manchester United forward ahead of the new term.

The 21-year-old, who has six international caps for his country, but was not included in the Belgium squad that competed at Euro 2016 this summer, scored one goal in seven appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.

In fact Januzaj, who earned his first-team debut for United under former boss and newly appointed Black Cats manager David Moyes, was loaned out to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund during the 2015/16 campaign – where he failed to find the back of the net in 12 games.

The Red Devils have already agreed to selling defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love to the Stadium of Light outfit for a combined £5.5m.
