Sunderland have confirmed the signings of defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love from Manchester United for a fee of £5.5m.

The Premier League side, who lost boss Sam Allardyce to England this summer before appointing David Moyes as his managerial replacement, have landed the duo on four-year deals and become the new boss’s second and third summer signings.

Centre-half McNair; 21, who has 11 international caps for Northern Ireland and featured for his country at this summer’s Euro 2016 in France, made nine first-team appearances for the Red Devils last season.

Whilst right-back Love; also 21, is a Scotland Under-21 international and made his United debut under former boss Louis van Gaal against Sunderland back in February 2016.

Black Cats manager Moyes told the club’s official website, “Paddy is a young, athletic player who is improving all the time.

“He has experience for Northern Ireland and we want to bring as many international players to the club as we can.

“Donald comes highly recommended and is another young player who I hope can develop and improve here.

“I want to add some young players to the squad as well as some senior players and both of them have got really good potential and the opportunity to improve.

“I want to bring in players who are here for the long-term as well as the short and hopefully these two are here for the long-term.”
