Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer, according to Football Insider.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who currently sit sixth in the English top-flight standings, despite defeating arch rivals Manchester City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium in their last outing, are thought to be closely monitoring the Napoli forward.

The 28-year-old, who has 25 goals in 55 international caps for his country to date, has found the back of the net an outstanding 31 times in 37 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Higuain, who joined the Italian club from La Liga giants Real Madrid back in 2013, has been deemed as the “world-class” striker the Red Devils are targeting during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

However amid strong speculation last year, Napoli informed potential suitors that the Argentine ace has a release clause of a whopping £73.9m in his current deal.
