Argentina international defender Marcos Rojo has reportedly emerged as a loan target for Villarreal this summer, according to the Mail.

The 26-year-old, who has 49 international caps for his country, provided two assists in 28 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United last season.

The Premier League side; who finished fifth in the English top-flight standings last term, could be tempted into allowing the left-back to leave for the Spanish outfit ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign after signing fellow defender Eric Bailly from the The Yellow Submarine, plus the welcome return of England international Luke Shaw from a long-term injury.

Rojo, who only arrived at Old Trafford back in August 2014 following his £16m switch from Sporting Lisbon, was brought into the club by former manager Louis van Gaal.

However new boss Jose Mourinho could decide to let the Argentine join Villarreal on loan after failing to impress at left-back last term.
