Manchester United’s dream spine come February

Victor Lindelof

Speculation has been building about a potential move for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, and it looks like the deal could be on again after a few weeks of doubt.

Reports at the end of December suggested that Mourinho was happy with his central defensive options after the good form of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, yet the former’s recent injury and Eric Bailly’s participation at the African Cup of Nations appears to have changed his mind.

The United boss is due to make a decision on Lindelof this week, but recent reports suggest that Benfica are anticipating the 22-year-old’s departure, and they’ll have to go some to replace a defender who has started in all but one of their 18 Primeira Liga games this season.

The Swedish international is highly-rated in Portugal, and could be exactly what Mourinho needs to solidify his United backline.
