Whilst Newcastle have, undoubtedly, been exceedingly impressive this season, on night’s such as Tuesday the former Liverpool manager needs a second approach to move to.

The Royal’s defended spectacularly throughout and rarely gave the visitors a sniff within the penalty area. The introduction of Gayle could well have sparked some life into the Newcastle attack but it was not to be and the game petered out.

A couple more night’s like this and the Magpies’ claim on top spot could well be over such are the pressures atop the Championship.
