It’s been just under two months since the Premier League season began, but it’s already getting to that time of the year whereby players are being linked with moves when the transfer window opens in January.

The international break this fortnight gives Premier League managers a little bit of time to assess their squad of players, and perhaps decide upon the future of certain stars at their club.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino could well be one of those using these two weeks to identify those players that may need to be moved on in the New Year.

Spurs have made an excellent start to the Premier League season, and the 2-0 win over Manchester City saw them cut the gap to Pep Guardiola’s side at the top to just two points.

Yet, Pochettino may feel that it’s time to move some players on, so here are THREE players he should look to sell in January…

It may or may not improve their careers, if they move, but they are important squad members at Spurs!
The writer keeps saying it will be beneficial if they move on. Beneficial to whom? Tottenham? Or simply the players? Obviously it’s not worth it (or, erm, beneficial) for Spurs to release important cover, especially with a busy and important season reaching a 4/5 month climax (League, FA Cup, hopefully still CL and possibly League Cup) from January on. Carroll, perhaps, could go if the bid was right …but certainly not Trippier or Vorm.
Apart from the money we’d get, who, like Trippier for example, could we bring in as an able (and happy to be just that) right back cover for Walker? No ..Trippier is a top player, and will get lots of games this term, and maybe even a run if Walker gets injured beyond any normal ‘rest’ periods. Vorm too is important cover. We’re not going to get many better goalkeepers willing to be in Lloris’s shadow so let’s just be pleased that Vorm’s OK with that, and, like Trippier, will be determined to stay and fight for what the club is trying to achieve. I hope the case with Wimmer proves similar, as again, I rate him highly as top cover (and I hope Poch gives him more games as he never let us down during Vert’s absense). We’ve got rid of who we need to ..with just Fazio and Bentaleb to go. The squad is looking as good as it ever has in the PL era, with some great youngsters coming through too, so let’s celebrate that and back Poch’s vision ..and not talk about it being beneficial if top ‘cover’ players leave!

All three are very good players. If Spurs took your advice, who would you have as cover for Lloris and Walker in particular?
It’s a long season and if Spurs want to challenge in all competitions I suspect they’d want a strong and talented bench to have the option of resting players and covering for injuries.
I’m surprised you didn’t throw Wimmer into the list.

CB Waters, do I see you over on TOMM blog? Anyway, I totally agree with you, this was a pretty useless article, I just looked at the players he listed. Sorry, writer, mate, I’m with the Boss, he’s constructing a very good squad. Stick with Poch!

Can you write something useful and knowledgable ! The journey Spir are going they requires a depth of squad for several competition. This artical is justifiable if Spurs are at the bottom of the table , pick an ailing team or squads that have aged glamours that under performs!

Hahaha….yes if our beloved Spurs want to be a mid table team…then yes lets axe these players. Any top team needs a strong bench….and these players have proven to be that cover we need….infact I personally beleive that Trippier is as good as Walker and Vorm has proven to be an awesome cover for Lloris…..just like CB Waters say….axing these players would be beneficial to whom ????
