Barcelona star Luis Suarez has opened contract negotiations over a new deal with the Catalan club, amid interest from Man United, according to the Independant.
The Red Devils had been linked with a world-record shattering £135m move for the former Liverpool man, who was crucial in helping the Reds challenge for the title under Brendan Rodgers, before moving to La Liga.
The striker follows his two strike partners Lionel Messi and Neymar, who – alongside Suarez – form the revered MSN trio, in gaining new deals, with the Brazilian having already put pen to paper.
A new contract would pour cold water over any hope of Jose Mourinho engineering a deal for the Uruguay international, aside from paying even more than the £135m.
A striker may still be a-top the former Chelsea manager’s list in January, having found goals hard to come by in recent weeks, with his side scoring just one Premier League goal in October.
