Premier League Team of the Week: Matchweek 6

DF: Wesley Fofana (Leicester City)

Jonny Evans was terrific in Leicester’s backline but we’ve selected fellow defender Wesley Fofana. The 19-year-old put in a strong display to deny Arsenal’s superstar attack at the Emirates. Signed from Saint-Etienne in October, the France Under-21 international was assured on the ball and made crucial blocks as the Foxes snatched a 1-0 win.

DF: Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

After a shaky start to his Chelsea career, Thiago Silva put in the kind of performance which showed why Frank Lampard was keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Nothing to outstanding but the Brazilian provided real leadership at the heart of the back-three which secured a point and clean sheet at Manchester United.

DF: Luke Ayling (Leeds United)

In an unfamiliar position at centre-back, stand-in skipper Ayling was very assured in Leeds’ 3-0 win at Aston Villa. The defender made up for an error to make a goal-line clearance to deny Jack Grealish and led by example in Marcelo Bielsa’s impressive Whites side.
