New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping it’s third time lucky as he looks to pick up his first win at the club against Southampton at Anfield on Sunday.

The German’s first Premier League game in charge saw him pick up a goalless draw against Tottenham at White Hart Lane last weekend, while he also took a point as the Reds played host to Rubin Kazan in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Klopp is likely to have to do without Daniel Sturridge in his first league match in charge at Anfield as the England international is still struggling with a knee problem, but Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino are both available after spending a month on the sidelines.

The Saints certainly won’t be any pushovers though, and boast an unbeaten record (W1, D3) on their travels in England’s top-flight so far this term, including a brilliant 3-1 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge three weeks ago.

Ronald Koeman’s men did show some weakness against high-flying Leicester City at St Mary’s last Saturday though, letting a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Claudio Ranieri’s side, and the Dutchman will be looking for a response ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg missed last weekend’s draw with the Foxes because of a minor back spasm, but he is fit and is likely to take his place between the sticks for the visitors, while Jay Rodriguez faces a late fitness test on a foot problem.
